Phil Hemesath Owner
Biography
Phil Hemesath is the farmer and founder of NFG. He began at Iowa State University in the college of business. Finishing with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, with philosophy and religion being big areas of study. In 2013 Phil attended Cal-Earth Institute of Earth Art and Architecture to study Permaculture and other techniques of organic and sustainable living. He also went on to receive training in Emergency Medical Services at Stonehearth Learning Opportunities as a Wilderness - EMT. And later at Des Moines Area Community College as a paramedic student. More recently Phil has been exploring his entrepreneurial side and practicing in the trades, while maintaining his devotion to the growth and development of Neighborhood Farming Group as a Farmer and Executive Director.
In 2019, NFG became a not-for-profit organization as a way to be of greater service to the neighborhood and community. Phil continues to do what he can to promote greater food security among his neighbors. And wants everyone to benefit from using their property for food production.
